Dishonored 2 is my personal game of the year, and I had a great time playing it on PC, with no performance issues, as did our port reviewer. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for everyone, and performance issues have been widely reported. Arkane have just released a beta patch to address some of these problems.

“When Dishonored 2 was launched, the game experienced PC performance problems on machines with specific configurations,” said Arkane in the update. “We’re working to address some of these with our updates over time, and some will be addressed by driver updates released by our partners.”
It seems like the problems weren’t all just Arkane’s end, as the Nvidia 375.95 drivers were also supposed to help performance. As we reported the other day, those drivers were broken, however, and caused issues for certain builds.
You can download the hotfix 375.95 Nvidia driver now. For players with AMD cards, the recommended driver is still 16.10.2.
On top of this, if you opt into Dishonored 2’s beta branch (under Properties), there’s a patch to address the following issues:
- Mouse improvements, including a fix for sensitivity being frame rate dependent
- Fixes an AMD cloth physics issue, which impacts frame rates at various points in the game
- Fixes an issue affecting CPU task priority – the game no longer switches CPU task priority
