Delta Force Hawk Ops release date window, gameplay, and news

We take a look at the proposed Delta Force Hawk Ops release date window and what we know is coming with the return of the classic series.

When is the Delta Force Hawk Ops release date? The Delta Force series was introduced back in 1998, establishing a foothold in the tactical shooter genre for the following decade. Much to the dismay of fans, the series disappeared, but it has returned 15 years later with a new look, a new developer, and new game modes, all while reinventing the fan-favorite Delta Force: Black Hawk Down.

As we wait patiently for the FPS game, we’re being kept up-to-date with dev diaries, trailers, and the Delta Force Hawk Ops alpha playtest. While we know all the Delta Force Hawk Ops operators, and some maps coming at launch, we all want to know when we can expect the Delta Force Hawk Ops release date.

Delta Force Hawk Ops release date window

The Delta Force Hawk Ops release date window is set for Q1 2025, and is launching on PC, console, and mobile. It has not been specified what consoles the game is launching on, but we can assume it will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The Q1 2025 release date window was confirmed by Lead Developer Leo Yao in an interview with wccftech.com. When asked about a release window, Yao said, “Yeah, early access should be in the fourth quarter [of 2024], and our expectation is that the final release will be in Q1 next year.” This follows alpha playtesting in August 2024, and presumably some beta testing later over the upcoming months – a pretty quick turnaround.

While this might seem ambitious, players who have already obtained access to the game are already impressed with what’s on offer, so perhaps a full launch in early 2025 isn’t too optimistic. In our Summer Game Fest preview ahead of the first alpha test, we said that “the game is smooth, the gunplay is relatively balanced, and the co-op mode is, indeed, very fun”, and we hope it’s only going to improve from here.

Delta Force Hawk Ops gameplay

Delta Force Hawk Ops features the reinvention of the original Black Hawk Down campaign from 2003. This beloved campaign has been reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, updating the look and style of the single-player campaign for both new and returning players.

While the Black Hawk Down campaign takes place in 1993, we get a chance to peek into the future with a new campaign set in 2035. Here, you’re investigating the illegal activities of the Haavk Corporation using modern technology and tight teamwork.

There are two main multiplayer modes: Hazard Operations and Havoc Warfare. Hazard Operations is an extraction mode akin to the likes of Tarkov. You set your loadout before dropping in with two teammates, and go about collecting and extracting the most valuable resources you can find. In Havoc Warfare, you’re one of 32 players going head-to-head in a chaotic battle to be the last player standing. Claim various POIs across a large map to secure victory.

Delta Force Hawk Ops trailers

The first full trailer for Delta Force Hawk Ops, as you can see above, does a brilliant job of showing what to expect from the new game as it switches between 1993 and 2035. Starting off in the past, we’re soon transported to 2035 and Operation Lightning Strike, where technological advancements have led to new and intriguing weapons. As the trailer continues to switch between the two timelines, we can enjoy the stark contrast between the two eras we’ll be exploring in Delta Force Hawk Ops.

The more recent cinematic trailer, meanwhile, gives us a better idea of what to expect from the latter day campaign. Presumably narrated by the game’s antagonist, leader of the Haavk Corporation, we are told about his advancements and his belief that this technology is the future. In some ways, it seems he may be right, as the tech our operators have access to include exoskeletons, high-tech radars, and healing guns.

There have also been a bunch of map and mode videos uploaded to the Delta Force Game YouTube channel, alongside a string of informative dev diaries. The Summer Game Fest 2024 trailer above, meanwhile, dives even deeper into the futuristic single-player campaign from a more on-the-ground gameplay perspective. Searching for something called a Mandel Brick in a nearby tourist center, we’re confronted with the fact that Haavk Corp beat us to it, and we need to take them down using stealth and speed to reach the objective first.

Of course, a Delta Force Hawk ops trailer wouldn’t be complete without at least a little look at the new Black Hawk Down campaign too. We get to see this from the ground, giving us a closer look at the terrified civilians trying to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.

Team Jade have been more than forthcoming already in the lead up to the Delta Force Hawk Ops release date, and we think there’ll be plenty more to see before the day comes. While you wait, watch others play and earn some Delta Force Hawk Ops Twitch drops, or jump into one of the best PC games around right now.
