When is the Total War: Warhammer 3 release time? Creative Assembly finally and officially announced Warhammer III in May 2021, and everyone’s very excited. The latest Total War strategy game and the third entry in the popular Total Warhammer series from Creative Assembly will shift focus to the east of the Warhammer Fantasy world, with a renewed look at the forces of Chaos.
Fan favourite faction Kislev returns from the first game as a fully-fledged launch nation, valiantly trying to defend the realms of man from the forces of Chaos. They are joined by the warriors of Grand Cathay, which is being brought to life for the first time in Warhammer III. The Chaos faction itself has also been fleshed out, with all four iconic ‘flavours’ of Chaos getting the full treatment. Plenty of other details have also been revealed since the original announcement, which we’ve summarised for you below.

The Total War: Warhammer 3 release time is 8am GMT / 3am EST / 12am PST on February 17, 2022.
It will be released on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store, and will be available on PC Games Pass from day one.

For anyone who pre-orders the game before release, or purchases within the first week after launch, they will get the Ogre Kingdoms race pack DLC for free as a early adopter incentive. After that window, the Ogre Kingdoms expansion will be avaiable to pruchase as normal.
Total War: Warhammer 3 legendary lords
At time of writing, ten Legendary Lords have been confirmed for launch. Nine were announced originally, but an additional lord has been revealed since as a secret unlockable Legendary Lord.
Cathay and Kislev will launch with two each, with Kislev able to unlock a third Legendary Lord in the form of Boris Ursus. The four Chaos factions get one Legendary Lord each at launch, and there is a fifth Chaos lord known as the Demon Prince who controls the Chaos Undivided / Legions of Chaos faction. They are fully customisable as a character. depending on what actions the player takes in the campaign.
It’s also been suggested that Be’lakor, Warhammer 3’s primary antagonist, might be playable at some point. The Ogre Kingdoms will also launch with two legendary lords, but since they are not considered part of the base game, their lords are not counted in the original announcement tally.

The confirmed races for Total War: Warhammer III are Kislev, Cathay, the four Chaos factions of Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch with the Legions of Chaos as a fifth Chaos army, and finally the Ogre Kingdoms as a launch DLC race. Read our guide for more on the Warhammer 3 races.
Total War: Warhammer 3 mods
Creative Assembly has confirmed that there will be mod support for the game at launch.
Games Workshop is currently reviving the Total Warhammer setting with the upcoming Warhammer: The Old World tabletop game. Creative Assembly has hinted at a possibility that any changes or new ideas (especially in terms of units) could get reflected in Warhammer 3 via DLC.
