Does Star Wars Outlaws have ship customization? If you’re looking forward to diving into the upcoming Star Wars game and want to learn about your ship, here’s everything we know about the EML 850 light freighter, named the Trailblazer, including ship customization and upgrade options.
There’s not long to go until the Star Wars Outlaws release date and we’ve already played four hours of the game, so you can check out what we thought in our Star Wars Outlaws preview. We also got a chance to try out space combat and explore some of the Star Wars Outlaws planets and locations, so we can see the full potential of the Trailblazer as we battle pirates in space.
Some of what we saw involves Kay’s ship, the Trailblazer, which is one of the only ships of its type in the Star Wars universe, as a prototype from the Clone Wars. We’ve never seen the light freighter in Star Wars before, but its ’70s aesthetic fits perfectly into Outlaws, as does the design and combat functions – here’s what you can expect from customization and ship upgrades.
Does Star Wars Outlaws have ship customization?
Seeing as there’s space combat, you are able to customize the weapons onboard from multiple weapon types available throughout the game to buy and upgrade. This also includes an unlockable turret and various missiles. You’ll spend time in Outlaws improving your ship, so although it’s a little rusty at the start, by the end of the game, you can make it truly your own.
Though Outlaws isn’t going to be a space and/or ship simulation game and will only have light customization, you’ll still be able to change the look of your ship by equipping different armaments and changing the color scheme.
You’ll be able to change the color of the paint finish, adding a bold stripe spanning the Trailblazer, or changing the color of the engine trail, and adding decorative trinkets for a personalized touch.
Star Wars Trailblazer upgrades
You can upgrade the following on your ship: weaponry, defenses, and propulsion by collecting materials and getting mechanics to upgrade the ship for you. Materials for upgrades can be purchased from merchants, found in space, or looted off enemy pirates in pirate territories and found in chests on different planets.
