MARKETS: Sensex slips 250 pts; Voda Idea increases by 12%, SBI card decreases by 4%

LIVE Market Updates: After starting to dig, benchmarks became volatile and moved closer to the day’s low.

The S&P BSE Sensex was at 58,449, down 200 points, while the Nifty50 held 17,400 points. In larger markets, the BSE SmallCap Index outperformed its mid- and large-cap peers, and was up about half a percent.

Among the individual actions, the actions of Devyani International continued their northward journey for the third consecutive trading day and rose 8% to Rs 190.20 on BSE during Thursday’s intraday trading. READ MORE

Further away, Vodafone idea also climbed 12% to Rs 16.4 after the company said its bondholders would receive interest on time by the December 13 due date as the company was successful in raising funds for the repayment .

At the sector level, only the Nifty Pharma and Metal indices were in the green. The Nifty Bank Index was the most lagging behind, down 1%.

Live Market Updates: Market bulls roared on Dalal Street for the third day in a row Thursday amid widespread buying. In addition, a solid global setup amid a flow of encouraging news regarding the efficacy of Pfizer’s vaccine against the Omicron variant has boosted investor confidence.

The S&P BSE Sensex jumped 224 points, or 0.4%, to 58,874 levels in early trades. The Nifty50 also added 60 points, or 0.4%, to 17,530 points.

“Nifty’s momentum would be tested if the 17,600 acted as a stubborn level and forced a return to 17430. That said, our bearish marker would be placed a little further at 17250, until 17780 is reached. front F&O, Nifty weekly contract as the highest open interest (OI) at 18,000 for calls and 17,000 for puts, while monthly contracts have the highest open interest at 17,100 for calls and 17,200 for options to 18,000 for calls and 17,000 for puts in monthly contracts, ”Geojit Financial Services analysts wrote in their morning note.

Among individual stocks, BPCL, M&M, Ultratech Cement, L&T, Infosys, RIL and ICICI Bank were the top performing large caps in the 50-pack index.

Meanwhile, in larger markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices gained as much as 0.5 percent. Actions of RailTel advanced 4 percent on BSE with a new order from Ircon International. those from Beardsell rose 3% after the company announced its board of directors would meet on Dec. 13 to consider a proposed rights issue.

LIVE market updates: Domestic stocks could rally for a third straight session on Thursday amid declining Omicron concerns and firm global signals.

At 8:15 am, SGX Nifty was 17,575 from the Nifty’s Spot close of 17,470 on Wednesday.

Primary market

The initial public offering of Shriram Properties was 89% underwritten at the end of the first day of the issue. The retail quota received offers up to 5 times.

RateGainTravel Technologies IPO was 75 percent underwritten at the end of day 2 of its issuance. The retail part has been subscribed almost 4 times.

The IPO of CE Info Systems (MapmyIndia) will be open for subscription today. The company aims to increase to Rs 1,040 crore through a full offer to sell shares in the price range of Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,033.

Global indices

US stocks edged higher on Wednesday amid a flow of encouraging news on vaccines. There are reports that Pfizer and BioNTech said their three-step vaccine was able to neutralize the new Omicron variant in a lab test and that they could deliver an improved vaccine in March 2022 if needed. The Dow Jones rose 0.1%, while the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 index rose 0.6% and 0.3% respectively.

Meanwhile, Asian markets also started to trade on a positive note. Hang Seng advanced more than one percent. Straits Times, Kospi and Taiwan gained 0.3-0.5% each. Shanghai was up 0.2%, while the Nikkei slipped 0.2%.
