NORMAL – Nate Gorczyka pitched six solid innings and his normal teammates provided plenty of offensive support on Sunday in an 11-6 Prospect League win at Corn Crib.
The CornBelters’ fourth consecutive victory brought their record to 6-3 and dropped the Bees to 6-4.
“They do a great job playing together and playing clean baseball,” Normal manager Calvin Peacock said. “So it’s been a good week.”
Gorczyka allowed two unearned runs, three strikeouts and three walks.
“Our starting pitcher has been good all week,” Peacock said, “and the guys coming out of the pen did their jobs for the most part.”
Ben Hopkins had three of the Belters’ 13 hits.
Brennan Orf and Avery Owusu-Asiedu each had two runs, and Jonathan Latham, Owuse-Asiedu, Drew Davis and Andy Bunton each contributed two hits.
“We don’t take out a lot of balls and we put the ball into play,” Peacock said. “I’m really happy with the way we’re rocking it right now.”
